the next level
last week, i did my first advertising gig – with make up artist, stylist (two seperate people actually) and real models. let’s just say i am definitely not ready for that level of control and visionary. although it goes against my very photojournalistic style, i wanted to give it a shot. the client wasn’t too demanding and we were doing it for a ‘deal’. which in hindsight, i would say you get what you paid for. there’s a lot of work that goes into making these types of commerical images and it requires a level of mastery […]
sf faces
it’s been 3 weeks since the actual exhibit but it felt like it happen a year ago. we’re glad to be back to being boring event/wedding photographers but there is still a lot of excitement in the office. anyway, i finally put the entire exhibit online but here are some of my favorites from the show.
being angry
i was just very angry with my business partner. I yelled, insulted and was just plain bitter with him for over an hour. i hadn’t been this angry since i exploded the time she accused me of looking at a model the wrong way. iconically, i warned him not to talk with me because i was vengeful and then i still proceed to give him an earful. part of me knew that my venting was mostly useless because i was stressed out and bitter. i never feel good about exploding because even when i win th arguement, […]
parts
take the sum of the parts and you have something greater than e = mc 2. see more parts from my last fashion show ever. maybe until next week.
fashion boredom
i didn’t think it was possible but i think i’ve been spoiled after shooting macy’s fashion passport gig. tonight, i try so hard to capture that elusive sense of sexiness but i couldn’t do it. one thing that is obvious is the how working models do it and how part time models are. anyway, gotta stay away from these fashion things for a while because it a bit tortorous. i mean it’s fun when you’re getting paid to do it but doing a shoot for a tiny bit of sushi was a bit silly. fundmentally, i am […]
revisitng LAX
In LAX, decompressing from a fairly exhausting photo shoot of a bunch of Venture Kids. The combination with dealing a overly stressed creative director and getting up at 4am to do a gig that made me cancel my trip back east for my high school best friend seem almost like a farce. Sure it was straight out of the how much will you scarficie for the business playbook but I thought I had throw that one when I became my own boss. Oh, the irony is painful. Anyway, I have a feeling that this type of scenrio […]
untitled
i was reading an article about sigur ros a couple of days ago and something really really stood out at me about what they were saying about their music. how do you categorize and title something that is meant to be experience not desribed? to describe it is to destory it, the very meaning of the message. so when they released their last album without any titles on it, i dawned on me why i like have the title of ‘untitled’ in my sig. on the ego driven level, it’s the desire of the ego to go […]
