last week, i did my first advertising gig – with make up artist, stylist (two seperate people actually) and real models. let’s just say i am definitely not ready for that level of control and visionary. although it goes against my very photojournalistic style, i wanted to give it a shot. the client wasn’t too demanding and we were doing it for a ‘deal’. which in hindsight, i would say you get what you paid for. there’s a lot of work that goes into making these types of commerical images and it requires a level of mastery that i don’t have. i doubt that i will really get into this type of photography but i am interested in learning from someone that does this all the time. fundmentally, i think the way we’re approaching our business/photography is so much trial/error that it quite painful when we get burn. we learn quickly but there are definitely some things that you can’t just wing it….
