once in a while

i was talking to a friend about my job as an observer. i surmise that i could probably predict if a couple would last base on my observation throughout their wedding day. once in a while, i see some amazingly gorgeous love that gives me hope.

dad, post landmark

i actually had a converstation longer than 2 minutes with my dad tonight. i don’t think it made the 10 min mark but it was more meaningful than the traditional lectures that he usuallys gives me. lecture may not be quite the approriate word but our conversations tend to be very simple in nature and mostly a one way converation. as much as i would like to start having a ‘real’ conversation with him, i feel like he would probably get lost with the english after 5 mins, which would be the same for me when the […]

yoga studies

it’s been a while since i took any formal classes in my all things tibetan education but i had a nice short one day by some western teachers from the yoga studies insitute. overall, there was anything really ‘wow’ as i have heard most of the stuff before but in this new yoga context, i think the experitial nature of yoga practice will facililate the experiatial wisdom of the teachings. the western lama was particular funny and although the material was elementary, i could tell he was quite verse in the teachings. it’s such a bonus to […]

two women for the price of one meal

i didn’t also quite believe it when i saw her today. i was having lunch with an old friend and i had intentionally gone to a cafe where i knew a fellow landmark graduate worked. she had previously stop me in the middle of the street weeks prior and i had a wonderful connection with her in the brief conversation that we had on the sidewalk. chance was with me today as i found her working in the back of the cafe as a cook. she look quite different with a baseball cap on but her reaction […]

reclaiming manhood

it’s a bit after the fact but i will reiterate my sad story one more time for the sake of proserity. in the woods of mt olympic national park, i found the limits of my physical endurance and more. at some point, i remember just reciting mantras so that i focus my attention towards something more meaningful than my petty physical pain. it was definitely a wonderful exercise in transcendance of the body. it’s a different kind of barrier than the one i experience in yoga. whereas in yoga, the barrier is usually mental and usually you […]
