i think last night was the first time i ever went to see a movie on an opening night. i had reread the lords of the ring triology last year during my trip to asia. so after reading the book and seeing how amazing the first movie was, i had pretty high expectation for this one. naturally, any time we have expectations we are bound to be disappoint. still, it’s a great movie nonetheless if i stop comparing it to the first movie or the book! i thought peter jackson did a good job in parlaying the emotional despair and constant battle between good and evil within the characters as well on the battlefield. although without knowing the depth of the characters, the emotional turmoil that the main characters experienced on the scene is limiting. at any rate, like the empire strikes back, the middle part of the triology is a transition point and lacks the power of the first one and the finalilty of the last one!

on a minor note, i’ve converted yet another soul to the powers of Lagavulin . my friend turned thirty last night, so it’s always good to discover a high level of appreacation when you reach the top of the hill. the key to appreaciting this particular brand of single malt is to taste it in comparasion with other single malts during the initialization taste test. apparently, it’s prince charles favorite single malt so that’s gotta say something.
