i had to be a good son today and make my pilgrimage to houston to see my father while i was in the state of texas. sadly, i was still dragging my feet about visiting him at the airport and i haven’t seen in probably at least 4 years. i actually called him from the austin airport to see if he was going to be around, otherwise i could have had an easy escape. of course i am glad that i went to see him because his age is beginning to really catch up to him. i was actually suprised about how much he still works these days, conisidering that he’s about 56 now. apparently, he’s working 12 hour shifts for 6 days a week at HP. i am sure he’s not getting paid much but still, he continues to seem light hearted and happy. undoubtedly the pooerest compared to all my uncles but i suspect he’s of the happier of the bunch. things here in his community is a bit of a time capsule. there’s a part of my history here and coming back always ignites some strange memories and feelings.<\/p>\n
more than anything, it’s yet another marker of progress as i catch up to some of the people here. it would only seem that my other buddy here (having the same vietnamese name as I) and i are the last of the unmarried kind. i told him to hold strong and not give in nto the hate. i am mean love. everyone’s pretty much married with either one or point five kid on the way. i think my dad has actually given up on asking me the question. i am glad he’s open to the idea that one can be happy without it. but i digress and don’t need to justify my way of life anymore.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
