i randomly meet a runner on the trail run today and it was very nice to have company on my run. it’s normally such a divine solo experience where i am just soaking in all that is nature. but today i found myself competing with my partner even though i didn’t really want me too. more then anything i noticed how my mind was drifting towards ‘wanting to catch up’. although i was slightly disgusted by how easily my ego mind took over the experience, i tried to let it go but found myself browsing 50Ks this year. in short, my running partner, having been out of running for the past 3 years was on a mission to do a 100 miler this year. I was slightly blown away by his courage! although rarely compare myself to most hard core athletes, i had decided in the past year that i wanted to be more well rounded ‘athlete’, rather than be super good at running or cycling. now that i have thrown yoga into the mix, i have never been more rounded in my life. although i have done a view bike races, the draw of trail running has a special magic appeal. the mix of being in nature, the slow pace and the endurance aspect of it really makes it my favorite activity. although i very much have a lot more fun on a mountain bike, i am pretty wimp when it comes to ‘racing’ in it. anyway, with the confluence of getting an RV and wanting to go to as many national parks where i can run, well, it’s going to the top activity for the rest of my life. of course, yoga and tai chi will take over at some point but i still have a good 20 years of running left. anyway, how serious am i taking this 50K goal? serious enough to make a playlist for it. lastly, i found a service that sync my past 6 years of physical activities across the bunch of services i’ve used. now i will really geek out on the data. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
